How to Use a Cricut Mini Handheld Heat Press for Customizing Tshirts

The Cricut Mini Handheld Heat Press is a great tool for those who love creating unique designs on fabric. This small and portable heat press is perfect for small projects, allowing you to apply sublimated and DTF transfers, iron-on vinyl, and other heat transfer paper with ease. We use this when applying neck tags to t-shirts and when necessary on a delicate area where a full-size heat press would create damage. We used this when sublimating Easter hats with personalized names. The hat had hanging sides where you could squeeze the bottom area and pump air up to stand the ears up. It is plastic so a full heat press would have melted it. We used this handheld Cricut Iron and it worked like a charm!

Below are some tips for using the Cricut Mini Handheld Heat Press:

  1. Design your project: Before using the heat press, ensure that you have a design that you want to transfer onto your fabric. You can create your design using Cricut Design Space or any other design software. Remember to mirror your design before printing it onto your heat transfer paper.

  2. Set the temperature: The Cricut Mini Handheld Heat Press comes with an adjustable temperature control that you can use to set the temperature to the appropriate level for your project. Follow the instructions on your heat transfer paper carefully to avoid setting the temperature too high and risking damage to your fabric.

  3. Apply pressure: Once you've set the temperature, you can start applying pressure to the heat press using the lever. Apply enough pressure to transfer the design onto your fabric without damaging it.

  4. Hold the heat press in place: After applying pressure, hold the heat press in place for a few seconds as per the instructions on your heat transfer paper. Avoid moving the heat press around while it's in contact with your fabric.

  5. Peel off the transfer paper: Once you've held the heat press in place for the required time, carefully peel off the transfer paper to reveal your design on the fabric.

In summary, the Cricut Mini Handheld Heat Press is a fantastic tool for customizing fabric items such as t-shirts, bags, and more. Follow these tips to ensure that you get the best results possible from your projects without damaging your fabric or transfer paper.
